"Try swimming"...40s charged with gaslighting and drowning a basic recipient
A victim in his 40s who forced a victim of a so-called "gaslighting" (psychological domination) to swim and drowned has been put on trial.
According to the legal community on the 16th, the 2nd Criminal Division of the Tongyeong Branch of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Sung-soo) announced that he had arrested and indicted A in his 40s on charges of manslaughter.
A is accused of forcing B in his 50s to swim at a waterfront park in Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do, at 2:10 p.m. on October 11 last year, leading to his death.
He lied to B, whom he learned a few years ago at the Gosiwon, as if he was active in a violent organization, and often assaulted and abused him.
A total of 17 million won was taken out from the money B received for basic living expenses and the money he earned by working as a daily worker from time to time.
He did not sleep and fought with another basic living recipient, Mr. C.
B, who was scared, was later placed in a state of psychological domination by A and could not easily escape.
On the day of the incident, A forced B and C to enter the sea and swim, and they reluctantly jumped into the sea, and among them, B fell into the water and died.
The prosecution confirmed the crime by analyzing account transaction details with people around B.
A prosecution official said, "We will take measures to provide damage support to victims and their families and do our best to ensure that A is sentenced to a crime."
