The original Chungmu gimbap in Tongyeong... Daejeon Iron Works Street... Local publishers banded all
He left Seoul and set up a publishing company in the provinces. After three to ten years of hard work, it has settled down to some extent. But sometimes I feel tired and tired. Only the books of major publishers and the stories of Seoul are attracting attention. So, small publishers in five regions decided to gather their minds. This is why "Onda Press" in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, "Grape Field Publisher" in Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, "I Spill Board" in Dong-gu, Daejeon, "Fruit Hana" in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, and "Spring Day in Namhae" in Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do, published an essay series "Somewhere is!" (all five volumes).
It was two years ago that the project began. It was the era of COVID-19 that you don't meet close friends. On the spring day of Namhae, CEO Jung Eun-young blindly contacted the representatives of other publishers, saying, "Let's get together and plan." There were some people I knew, but some people contacted me for the first time. Despite the awkwardness, we met regularly through video from early last year and had meetings. Representative Chung said, "I wanted to capture the unique culture and life of each region. He said, "I liked it because we had a lot of things in common."
In the fifth essay, he tried to remove his hasty fantasies about the region and revive his little-known appearance. "Somewhere is the original Chungmu Gimbap" (Spring Day in Namhae) is a cover story of Chungmu Gimbap. Starting with the question "Where is the origin of Chungmu Gimbap?" which is often heard as a Tongyeong person, he explores Chungmu Gimbap restaurants in Tongyeong. In 1981, Chungmu Gimbap was sensational at the Gukpung 81, a control cultural festival held by the Chun Doo-hwan administration at Yeouido Square in Seoul, and the process of reviving the texture is detailed as the angle of the stone gourd side eaten with Chungmu Gimbap is kept constant at 15-20 degrees.
Somewhere, there is an ironworks in the city center (this spill board) looks into the streets of Daejeon Ironworks. Since the establishment of Namseon Technology, the first industrial company in Daejeon, in 1950, the streets of the ironworks, which have become a mecca for Korean metal manufacturing, have been thoroughly investigated. Interviews with ironworks craftsmen to recall the youth of the declining street. Yoo Jeong-mi, CEO of Lee Yu-publishing, said, "The artisans' 'Hwayang Yeon-hwa' is a place where they catch passers-by due to oil stains." "I wanted to collect old stories," he said.
It deals with social issues like "Somewhere There Is a Migrant Woman Fighting" (Grape Field Publisher), which contains the joys and sorrows of migrant women living in Okcheon, and considers environmental issues like "Somewhere There Is a Magic Garden" (Fruit Hana), which summarizes the process of creating various types of gardens in Suncheon while looking at flowers thrown away every season in Suncheon National Garden. In Taebaek, "Somewhere is an amateur printer" (On-Press), which depicts the daily life of a young couple working on "Letter Press," in which a picture about nature is engraved on a copper plate and printed on paper, recorded a personal confession. When I asked Park Dae-woo, CEO of Onda Press, how he felt about the publication, a calm answer came back.
"Books published by local small publishers are usually hard to get popular. It's amazing because it's my first time getting interested in the media. If readers in each region and metropolitan area are interested, I think I can cheer up and make the next book."
