The captain of the helicopter that crashed into the Gomo Reservoir in Soheul-eup, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, was found dead after a search on the 3rd.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the fire authorities found the man in his 60s inside the helicopter at 3 p.m. on the day and are lifting him up. The salvage operation is expected to take about 30 minutes to an hour.

Fire authorities set up a search headquarters at the scene and mobilized divers and rescue boats to conduct rescue operations.

The crashed helicopter was Hongik Airlines' AS-350 (six-seater) aircraft, which Pocheon City rented from Friday to late December in preparation for the outbreak of forest fires in autumn. The helicopter was found to have been operated on the same day as a pre-equipment inspection a day before the launch of the helicopter.
