Presidential office name maintained 'Yongsan Presidential Office' for the time being

The new name of the presidential office, which moved to Yongsan, Seoul, will be maintained for the time being as the "Presidential Office in Yongsan," which was previously temporarily used, despite public offerings.

The Presidential Truth and Dismissal Committee decided not to recommend a new name for the presidential office after a final meeting on the 14th. After about two months of public contest and expert deliberation, he failed to find a suitable name among the candidates. An official from the presidential office explained, "As a result of the online survey on the preference of the five candidates, there is no name that won most of the votes, and considering the negative public opinion on each name, we agreed that it is difficult to form a public consensus."

Earlier, after a public contest, the New Name Committee selected five nominations, including "People's House," "People's Government Complex," "Minum Government Complex," "Bunnuri," and "Itaewon-ro 22," and conducted an online preference survey on the public from the 3rd to the 9th. 29,189 people participated in the survey, but none of the candidates won the majority of the votes. Itaewon-ro 22, which had the highest preference, received 32.1 percent of the votes, followed by the National Government Office (28.1 percent).

At the final meeting on the day, some said that all of the candidate works were less heavy compared to the existing Cheong Wa Dae names. In the case of Itaewon-ro 22, it is similar to "Downing Street No. 10," which means the British Prime Minister's Office, and it was pointed out that the national petition reminded the "Chinese National Party." President Yoon Seok-yeol also reportedly made a comment to the effect that "I don't like all the names of the conspiracy" at the luncheon of the People's Power leadership on the 10th.

An official from the presidential office said, "Considering the case of Cheong Wa Dae, which has been used for more than 60 years, once it is decided, the name should be used for a long time," adding, "We decided to take more time until a reasonable name naturally comes out."
