Musk, beat Bezos to become the richest man in the world

In 2021, the wealth of the world's top 10 richest people increased by $402 billion (about 478.179 trillion won).

CNBC quoted the Bloomberg Billionaires Index on the 30th (local time), saying that the personal assets of the top 10 richest people exceeded 100 billion dollars (about 118.95 trillion won) this year. Except for Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, most were first named in the so-called 12-digit club (more than $100 billion).

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who emerged as the world's richest man this year, has seen his assets increase by $121 billion (about 143.9295 trillion won) over the past year. Musk has secured an overwhelming first place with $277 billion (about 329.4915 trillion won) thanks to a 60% rise in Tesla's stock price this year alone.

Bezos' wealth, which gave Musk the top spot, was $195 billion (about 231.9525 trillion), up $5 billion (about 5.9475 trillion won) this year.

European richest man Bernard Arnaud, chairman of Louis Vuitton Mohenesi (LVMH), added 61 billion dollars this year, increasing his fortune to 176 billion dollars (approximately 209.352 trillion won).

Gates' wealth is $139 billion, up $7 billion from last year.

The assets of Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin rose $47 billion (about 55.9065 trillion won) and $45 billion (about 53.5275 trillion won) this year, respectively, thanks to the rise in Alphabet's stock prices, which exceeded $2 trillion in market capitalization last month. Page and Bryn's assets are $130 billion and $125 billion, respectively.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the only richest man in the world, recorded $128 billion (about 152.256 trillion won), up $24 billion (about 28.54 trillion won) from last year as the stock price of Facebook and Instagram parent Meta, which he owns 13 percent, rose more than 20 percent this year.

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's wealth increased by $41 billion this year, while Oracle founder and chairman Larry Ellison and Warren Buffett, the investment master called "The Wise Man of Omaha," also increased by $29 billion and $21 billion, respectively.
