Minister Lee Sang-min "Arrived at the Jamboree Participants' Accommodation..."Discussion on multi-personnel measures for K-pop concerts"
Some of the Jamboree participants who left the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree site on the 8th to escape typhoon Kanun arrived in Seoul and South Chungcheong Province, according to Lee Sang-min, the Minister of Public Administration and Security.
According to multiple media reports, Minister Lee said at a press briefing held at the Saemangeum Jamboree site later in the day, "We are receiving news that we have arrived safely from several places, including Konyang University, Gongju University, Hongik University, Myongji University, and University of Seoul in Seoul."
As of 4 p.m., 656 buses, or 65% of the 1,014 buses, left, he said, adding, "It was a little late in the morning in the process of checking the destination, but it is currently going smoothly." Lunch was provided as a lunch box on the move, and the police supported the transportation, adding that there was no problem with the movement.
Minister Lee said he will dispatch nine regional officers at the director-level of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security to eight cities and provinces from the 9th to support the safety and convenience of Jamboree participants. He also said that the police have established a contact system with the police department or police box for the safety of the participants.
He said he would take special care in cooperation with local governments so that participants can safely arrive at their accommodations and rest in a comfortable and clean environment. Ahead of the closing ceremony and K-pop concert to be held at Sangam Stadium in Seoul on the 11th, Minister Lee said he is working with the fire department and police to prevent safety accidents such as safety transportation, multi-personnel management, and emergency patient measures.
When asked if all participants could attend the concert, he said, "There is no problem in terms of the size of the concert," adding, "I think the possible members will gather because it is a concert after the closing ceremony."
Asked about the cost of participants staying in other regions, Moon Ji-kyu, head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, answered instead. "The situation is so complicated and many right now," Bang said. "We will run the program under the supervision of the head of the local government in the area where the participants are assigned, and consult with the central government on all expenses incurred afterward."
Regarding the reason for deciding to withdraw all campgrounds even though 342 evacuation centers were set up before the competition, he explained, "We prepared it on the premise that it could return to the territory (in case of a temporary disaster)," and added, "However, this typhoon is a completely national disaster, so we followed the manual."
