Impersonating the police and threatening the blinds of 'Gangnam Station stabbing'...Arrested an office worker in his 30s
A suspect who posted a so-called "murder notice" on an online community joined by an employee of the National Police Agency was caught a day after the crime.
According to multiple media reports on the 22nd, the National Police Agency's Cyber Terror Investigation Unit said it urgently arrested A, an office worker in his 30s, who posted such a post at 8:32 a.m. near his residence in downtown Seoul.
According to the police, A is accused (threatened) of posting a post on the bulletin board of the National Police Agency of the online community "Blind" for office workers on the morning of the 21st, titled "Stabbing at Exit 1 of Gangnam Station this evening." A police official said that A is not an incumbent nor a former police officer.
The post was deleted shortly after it was posted, but the post quickly spread online in the form of a capture.
The possibility that the author of this article is an incumbent police officer was raised, causing more repercussions than other murder notices, as blinds can only be registered and posted on workplace bulletin boards when they are certified as "current."
In response, National Police Agency Commissioner Yoon Hee-geun urgently ordered the National Police Agency's Cyber Terror Investigation Unit to investigate, tracked down the publisher, identified him and arrested him in a day.
The police plan to investigate how he posted the post by joining the blind bulletin board of the National Police Agency. They are also considering whether they can apply the crime of impersonating a public official to such acts.
