Goyang Fire Station Rescues Missing Dementia Persons in Their 60s in Bukhansan Mountain
Goyang Fire Station (Chief Jeong Yo-an) rescued A (66 years old, male) who disappeared from Bukhansan Mountain around 10:03 p.m. on the 30th and returned him to his family.
According to the Goyang Fire Station, around 6:45 p.m. that day, she was reported that "My husband with dementia went out for exercise on the 29th but did not return home," and started a search in cooperation with the police.
Rescuers searched the area of Yongsebong Peak in Bukhansan Mountain, the location value of A's last mobile phone base station, and found A near Jungheungsa Temple. At that time, A had no shoes and complained of hypothermia and decreased energy.
Team leader Kang Hyung-mook, who went to the rescue on the same day, took off his shoes and coat and protected A and descended safely.
Team leader Kang said, "It was a situation where the elderly with dementia could be in a dangerous situation," and added, "I'm really glad that we rescued them safely with active and prompt rescue."
