A man in his 20s who cut a smartwatch and kidnapped his ex-girlfriend



Police have arrested a man in his 20s who is suspected of damaging his ex-girlfriend's personal protective smartwatch and kidnapping her using a vehicle. According to the police on the 12th, Gwanak Police Station in Seoul arrested and is investigating two people, including a man in his 20s and a friend B, on charges of joint confinement under the Punishment of Violence Act. Mr. A and Mr. B are accused of kidnapping Mr. C, Mr. A's ex-girlfriend, by car at 1:50 a.m. that day.

They're going to take out the luggage they left behindHe reportedly visited C's house in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, dragged C into a vehicle driven by B, and moved for about 40 minutes. Earlier, it was reported that C reported A to the police for dating violence on the 10th. The police provided C with a smart watch (wearable emergency pager) for personal protection. It is reported that A's group cut the smartwatch with scissors and threw it away in a nearby flower bed during the kidnapping process. At that time, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, which received reports from C and other neighbors, identified the route of the vehicle's movement and asked the nearby Gwanak Police Station for a cooperative investigation. Later, at 2:46 a.m., about an hour later, B and C were secured on a road in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, and A, who fled, was also arrested in a nearby residential area in about 30 minutes. A reportedly questioned C in the car for reporting him as dating violence.

Police are also reportedly considering additional charges of damaging public goods in connection with their damage to smartwatches during the kidnapping process. A police official said, "We will investigate the exact reason for the crime and review whether to apply for an arrest warrant."
