According to the WSJ, the number of applicants from major universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania Watson School has surged. Watson School had less than 6,000 applicants last year, but this year it exceeded 7,000.

Until April, there were not many applicants at Georgetown University's MacDow Business School. "We extended the deadline from April to July, and since then, the number of applicants has soared," said Shelley Heinrich, dean of the university. "Applicants who have been laid off or have shrunk to the economic crisis have flocked to create a next opportunity.

Despite the surge, however, the number of foreign students studying abroad has decreased significantly due to measures such as border blockade.

The University of Pennsylvania's Watson School and UC Berkeley Haas Business School confirmed that the number of applicants for foreign students has decreased.
