'KELLOGG’S INTRODUCES GREEN ONION-FLAVOURED CEREAL'

Wait...Why is Kellogg’s Releasing a Green Onion Cereal in South Korea? The answer is way more interesting than you might think. More than just an unhinged (불안정 한)marketing gimmick(수법), the story of South Korean Green Onion Chex is really about a fight for breakfast democracy, 16 years in the making. South Koreans have been in a state of waiting since 16 years for their much-liked savoury (짭짤한)having crispy bite longing to satisfy their taste buds. This season, they finally can fill a bowl with the cereal they wanted all along: green onion-flavoured Chex.

Back in 2004, the company made an advertisement to gather public vote for a new product: chocolate- flavoured Cheki or green onion-flavoured Chaka. One had to be chosen for the mass production. Green-

Onion Chaka led by an overwhelming response, but duplicates were said to mar the online vote and ultimately Cheki was declared the winner. Many of

the disappointed South Koreans saw the outcome as more than a marketing mishap (작은사 고)which delayed its coming back this time.

After so many years, this election fraud (사고) outrages more or less faded from public memory— that is, until this week, when Kellogg’s of South Korea announced that Chaka would finally be done justice with new Green Onion Chex Cereal: You’re not going to do other things with your money. All kinds of negative effects have taken place.”

Some people have suggested in the comments that they want to try adding the cereal to popular Korean soups like gomtang (beef bone soup) or seolleongtang (beef brisket soup) which are traditionally eaten with green onion as topping. The chicken gomtang I tried it with only became much sweeter while the cereal pieces quickly became soggy.
