LG Display has decided to set up an independent task force for the recent death of an employee. The task force is an independent organization led by outside directors and will seek to resolve the crisis and come up with fundamental measures.

According to LG Display on the 23rd, President Chung Ho-young sent an in-house e-mail to executives and employees and announced that he would form an independent task force led by outside directors in relation to the recent employee death accident.

"We will leave all processes to the task force to clearly diagnose internal situations, find problems and come up with fundamental solutions," Chung said. Notably, the committee included its position that it would not participate in the committee's activities at all.

President Chung said, "I reflect on how much we have cared about overcoming the management crisis when all of our members wanted to create a healthy and happy workplace," adding, "As a CEO, we are reflecting on how much we have cared about our members' work and difficulties, and how sincere diagnosis and improvement of changes in the way we work have been."

He then said, "If there is a problem to be responsible for, he will not avoid it either."

This is a follow-up measure after a team leader-level employee of LG Display, who works at LG Twin Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, was found dead along the Han River on the 19th. As the news of the death spread, online anonymous bulletin boards speculated that it was an "extreme choice due to excessive workload."

Currently, the police are leaving open the possibility of a death by mistake as well as making extreme choices, and have reportedly called in company officials as reference persons to complete the investigation. The police explained that it will take some time to find out the exact circumstances of the accident.
